Producer registers in the EU
The different producer responsibility directives are implemented all over the EU, but with national variations. However, in the EU work is being done to obtain a total harmonisation of the rules, among others by establishing minimum requirements for national compliance schemes. It is common to all Member States that there is one national register, and in Denmark this is found with DPA.

European WEEE Registers Network (EWRN)
The national registers for electronics have a common network working for a common understanding and harmonisation of the rules. In most countries the different product areas covered by producer responsibility are placed under the same portal or, alternatively, refer to each other’s websites.

European Registers Single-Use-Plastics
Establishment of national registers for producer responsibility on single-use-plastics (SUP) are in progress in many EU-member states. We are trying to get an overview of the registration- and reporting entity in each country. This page is therefore continuously updated.

In connection with the manufacture and import of equipment in view of export the producer or the importer must contact the relevant country for further information about producer responsibility, registration, etc.
Only electrical equipment, batteries, and accumulators that are produced in or imported into Denmark and placed on the market here are covered by the duty to register and report in Denmark. So equipment exported to another EU Member State must be registered in that receiving country and NOT in the Danish register
European exchange of experience
Denmark participates in the European WEEE Registers Network (EWRN). The purpose of this network is to exchange experience across borders in view of making the rules as smooth and harmonised as possible for producers and importers.
Members of EWRN have signed a common charter describing the objectives of the work in the network. From the charter it appears that the objectives are, among others, to:
- exchange information and experience between the members
- strive for a harmonisation within the law enforcement as far as possible
- develop common definitions and understandings (e.g. standard-definitions of type-of-equipment)
- work on principles for cooperation between the different EU Member States
