As a general rule, all electrical equipment is subject to producer responsibility in Denmark, but a number of exemptions exist. The type of electrical equipment has an impact on how to register. Every product must always be registered based on the main purpose of the product.

Temperature exchange equipment

The category covers, among others: Refrigerators, freezers, equipment automatically delivering cold products, air-conditioning equipment, dehumidifying equipment, heat pumps, radiators containing oil and other temperature exchange equipment using fluids other than water for the temperature exchange. Also other equipment containing fluids other than water for the temperature exchange or dehumidifying equipment or other air conditioning equipment falls in this category. For instance, a number of clothes dryers have a built-in heat pump using fluids other than water in the drying process. Note that there are no criteria relating to the size of the equipment.

Photovoltaic panel

Only equipment being by itself a photovoltaic panel is covered by this category. Other equipment that might contain a photovoltaic panel does not automatically become a photovoltaic panel in this context, just because a solar cell has been integrated in the product to operate it in whole or in part. Such integrated products will belong to the category reflecting the main purpose of the equipment.

Screens and monitors

Screens, televisions, LCD photo frames, monitors, laptops, notebooks, tablets, eBook-/e-readers. For products whose main purpose is other than being a kind of display such products will not be categorised as a screen even when the screen is larger than 100 cm2. Categorisation in this case will be done in accordance with the main purpose of the equipment.

Light sources

Straight fluorescent lamps, compact fluorescent lamps, fluorescent lamps, high intensity discharge lamps - including pressure sodium lamps and metal halide lamps, low pressure sodium lamps, LED lamps.

Large equipment more than 50 cm

Washing machines, clothes dryers, dish washing machines, cookers, electric stoves, electric hot plates, luminaires, equipment reproducing sound or images, musical equipment (excluding pipe organs installed in churches), appliances for knitting and weaving, large computer-mainframes, large printing machines, copying equipment, large coin slot machines, large medical devices, large monitoring and control instruments, large appliances which automatically deliver products and money.

Small equipment under 50 cm

Vacuum cleaners, carpet sweepers, appliances for sewing, luminaires, microwaves, ventilation equipment, irons, toasters, electric knives, electric kettles, clocks and watches, electric shavers, scales, appliances for hair and body care, radio sets, digital cameras, video cameras, video recorders, Hi-fi equipment, musical instruments, equipment reproducing sound or images, electrical and electronic toys, sports equipment, computers for biking, diving, running, rowing, etc., smoke detectors, heating regulators, thermostats, small electrical and electronic tools, small medical devices, small monitoring and control instruments, small appliances which automatically deliver products, small equipment with integrated photovoltaic panels.

Small IT and telecommunications equipment under 50 cm

Mobile phones, GPS, pocket calculators, routers, personal computers, printers, telephones. Equipment exceeding the criterion of 50 cm will be covered by the category Large equipment.
