Frequently asked questions about producer responsibility

Access with password and/or NemID employee certificate

  • First time you log onto the producer register:
  1. Click the activation link you have received
  2. Enter a password (you choose freely) and go to the login screen
  3. Enter username and password in the fields on the right-hand side of the login screen (not NemID fields).
  4. Now, the NemID fields reappear. Choose the tab key card or key file and enter your NemID information to establish link and use your NemID in the future.
  • I have not established NemID link and forgot my password
  1. Go to login screen, enter your username (normally your e-mail)
  2. Click forgot password – it will now be sent to your e-mail. If it doesn’t work, you may contact us by phone +45 39 15 51 61 or e-mail info@producentansvar.dk
  • I have established NemID link, but how and where do I log in? You log in through  www.producentansvar.dk and use the NemID fields on the left-hand side of the screen. Enter your NemID information and proceed in the same way as for other public sites.

You can check if your business is subject to producer responsibility by taking our online test.

Take the test on the homepage of our website or click here

Note! Despite the term, the duty to register and report applies to importers as well as producers – the rules applying to both types are the same.

If you cannot search out your registration in the public part of the register or see  your registration certificate, you have forgotten something.

Most often, one or both below items are missing:

  1. Selection of product category/-ies
  2. Digital signature of “Confirmation”

Therefore, log in once more with your business NemID and go to menu item “Categories and quantities”. Select the categories corresponding to your products and end-users, (for batteries it’s substance groups) and click SAVE.

Then proceed to the menu item “Confirmation” and sign it digitally with the business’s NemID or touch through Penneo.

When this has been done, the menu item “Confirmation” changes to “Registration certificate”, and your registration is officially approved.

NOTE! Are you importing portable batteries? See particular issues relating to this type of batteries

Registration of system users

You must contact the colleague in your company who administers or already has access to your registration in the producer register. Under the menu item User management he or she can create access to your registration – as a user or administrator respectively – for you or other staff members.

If the staff member/-s having access to the producer register is no longer in your business, please send us a request by e-mail for establishment of access to info@producentansvar.dk.

NOTE! If the name of the business does not appear from your e-mail address, please document in other ways your affiliation to the business.

Annual reporting must be completed.

  • First and foremost, make sure that you or your compliance scheme has completed the annual reporting.
  1. When you are logged onto the producer register you must choose the menu item “Statements”.
  2. Answer the questions here and find out whether you have to make an Auditor’s attestation or a Management’s statement.
  3. If you need to make an auditor’s attestation you must invite your auditor:
    • Click the green button, fill in the CVR number of the audit firm, name and e-mail of the auditor, and send the e-mail.
  4. Now the auditor can accept and thereby get access to those of your data that he/she needs.

Guidance for electronic auditor’s attestation

The reporting period is every year from 1 January to 31 March. In this period, you will report as a producer/importer all you have sold on the Danish market in the previous calendar year.

Reporting is done by choosing “Category selection and reporting” -> “Categories and quantities” in the menu on your left-hand side when you are logged in.

You can yourself select and deselect categories, so it fits with your range of products. The years are shown in the tabs on the page. The year open for reporting is the previous calendar year.

Please log into the producer register; under the menu item “Category selection and reporting”, under Compliance schemes you can choose a compliance scheme in the drop-down list.

Producer responsibility in the EU

In most other EU countries, the rules are similar to what we have in Denmark: the first level of the distribution chain has the duty of registration and reporting. This means that – unless you sell directly to end-users – the dealer in the recipient country (in their role of importers) has the producer responsibility and must therefore register and report to the national register in that country. In other words, you are not the one to do it.

If, however, you sell directly to end-users you need an authorised representative in the recipient country. In such cases you can contact the national registers to hear about your options. Shortcuts for the registers are gathered with the European WEEE Registers Network (EWRN).

No, generally you cannot get the scrapping premium if you are not the last owner registered in the Danish motor vehicles register. However, this does not apply to car breakers who buy cars at insurance auctions.

The higher diesel scrapping premium amounts to DKK 2,800. It is paid together with the ordinary scrapping premium of DKK 2,200.

In total DKK 5,000 is paid as the higher diesel scrapping premium.

The 2021 diesel scrapping scheme started payments on 6 April 2021.

The payment of the higher scrapping premium of DKK 5000 runs until 31 December 2021 OR until funds are exhausted.

The funds reserved for the scheme are paid according to the ‘first-come-first-served’ principle.

The Danish Environmental Protection Agency is not liable for any loss further to scrapping of a diesel car that does not receive a higher scrapping premium.
