Get a refund for over-collection of electronic waste
You can apply for a refund if you have collected more waste electrical and electronic equipment from private households than you were allocated. Read more about the eligibility criteria and how to apply for a refund.
Producers that put electrical and electronic equipment on the market for private households must provide a financial guarantee for the management of the waste for which they have been allocated collection responsibility.
If one or more producers fail to collect their allocated quantity of waste, their financial guarantee may be released. We distribute these funds among the producers and collective schemes that have collected more waste than they were required to.
Who can apply for a refund?
You can apply for a refund if, as a producer or collective scheme, you have collected a larger quantity of waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) from private households than you were allocated.
What can you apply for a refund for?
You can apply for a refund for the costs you have incurred in collecting and managing the additional quantities of waste.
To receive a refund, you must submit documentation of the costs associated with managing the waste.
How to apply for a refund
Each year, we calculate which producers and collective schemes have collected more WEEE from private households than they were allocated. If you are eligible to apply for a refund, we will send you a letter with information about the calculated quantity and the next steps in the process.
To apply for a refund, you must submit documentation of the costs you incurred in collecting and managing the additional quantities of waste. The documentation must be certified by your auditor.
Once we have received the applications and the required documentation, we will process them and calculate the refund amounts. We will then pay the refunds to the producers and collective schemes that have applied and are eligible to receive a refund.
